Wandering a city,
parched and solitary,
I find a pale phantom
lost in a delicate dream.
I wake to find
your face dropped and shattered into
tiny pieces glittering in the morning light
beside my bed.
Can I reach out and pull you back
into this velvet darkness?
I await your return
with open hands
gathering countless dreams
seeking the solace of stars
which illuminate
the sound of your footsteps
beyond my door.
